We’ve chatted with Aileen Gutierrez, Director of Human Resources at Corporate TV, and Anna Padilla Cruz, Director of Operations, to know more about this extraordinary production company and why it’s cool to be part of their team of creatives.
TELL US ABOUT CORPORATE TELEVISION
Corporate Television is a two-year old company in the Philippines, but its mother company is originally a Spanish multimedia company.
What we do is we convert content that’s trapped in sub-optimal formats like PowerPoint, text manual into engaging video formats. A lot of things in an organization, as long as it has content, can be converted into this particular format.
WHAT WAS A RECENT PROJECT LIKE?
We’ve recently done an application for a Pharma company where instead of the flyers that we give to the doctors those were converted into infomercials.
WHAT SETS CORPORATE TELEVISION APART?
What sets us apart from most production houses is that we use industrial scale video production meaning we can do a lot of videos in a very short amount of time. We don’t do videos for the sake of doing the videos. We do videos because we want to impact transformational growth of the organization.
HOW IS YOUR RECRUITMENT PROCESS?
We ask them to send their CV and reels. The Operations Manager and her teammates look at the reels and make an initial assessment. Once they’ve identified that the person is a good match, next would be the interview.
This is where we check if the applicant has the core competencies we require, the technical skills and more importantly, if they fit in the culture of the organization.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN APPLICANTS?
Of course, the skill set. You have to be able to work with the software that we use. They have to be culturally fit.
On a regular day, we go from emotion to emotion. So they have to be able to handle themselves well.
WHAT IS A TYPICAL WORK CHALLENGE?
Well, there’s no particular challenge naman. It’s just, as a whole, of course there are very tight timelines that we have to adhere to, difficult clients.
Those are regular things that we have to answer up to. Everybody has to pitch in because we get a brief and we have to deliver within days, within hours.
HOW DO YOU ENCOURAGE YOUR TEAM?
We encourage them to go out of the office as a group and then discuss other things besides work. So, that they’ll have a foundation to come back to. It’s not all work. I want them to have a personal relationship with each other also.
WHAT MAKES CORPORATE TV UNIQUE?
Here we do it end to end. We come up with a basic concept, we develop it, we shoot it, we post prod it, we deliver it. And if it’s a content solution, even the gamification of it, even the web design of it, we do it. From the seed of the idea, to the delivery of the actual product. We do everything here, under this roof.
ADVICE FOR ASPIRING ARTISTS
Want to live a creative life, think my advice is, always innovate. You know creativity is about, they always say, thinking outside the box. But, you know, learn everything first, inside the box. Like, learn everything that they have to teach you in school later on, you innovate.
